Kickstart your immersive journey into the Alsace wine region from a prime location at the Strasbourg Tourism Office, nestled at 17 Place de la Cathédrale. Promptness is crucial to fully enjoy our bespoke wine tour, meticulously tailored for an intimate experience of Alsace's renowned vineyards. We recommend arriving 10 minutes before departure to ensure a smooth start to a day filled with exclusive wine tastings at some of Alsace's most prestigious wineries. Should unforeseen circumstances cause a delay, please notify us immediately; we can wait up to 10 minutes, but longer delays may unfortunately result in forfeiting your experience without refund.
A Day Steeped in Wine Tradition and Expertise
Upon arrival, you’ll meet your professional English-speaking guide, identifiable by the Ophorus sign and badge, who will introduce you to the day’s curated wine exploration. Once comfortably seated in an air-conditioned Mercedes minivan, you’ll follow the Alsace Wine Route as it weaves through the Vosges foothills, offering stunning views of vineyards, historic villages, and the very essence of Alsace’s wine culture.
Deep Dive into Alsace's Wine Heritage
Alsace is unique among French wine regions for its strong Germanic influence, reflected in both winemaking traditions and the predominance of varietal wines. Renowned for its aromatic whites, the region produces grapes prized for floral aromas, crisp acidity, and rich, expressive flavors.
Discover Riesling with its balance of acidity and mineral notes; Gewurztraminer, celebrated for exotic aromatics and spice; Pinot Gris, known for its rich, full-bodied style; and Muscat, Sylvaner, Pinot Blanc, and Pinot Noir, each adding to Alsace’s diverse and food-friendly wine portfolio.
Mittelbergheim & Barr: Grand Crus and Terroir
The tour begins in the Mittelbergheim/Barr area, where vineyards include renowned Grand Cru sites such as Zotzenberg and Kastelberg. Here you’ll enjoy a first tasting that highlights the diversity of Alsace’s white wines and how terroir—soil, slope, and exposure—shapes each cuvée.
Meet passionate growers, learn about their vineyard practices, and taste wines that may range from dry, mineral-driven Rieslings to more opulent Pinot Gris and Gewurztraminers, gaining a clear sense of Alsace’s stylistic range.
Dambach-la-Ville: Traditional Caveau & Classic Varietals
Continuing to Dambach-la-Ville, a fortified wine village surrounded by vines, you’ll experience a tasting in a traditional caveau. This is the perfect setting to savor celebrated Rieslings and Gewurztraminers and to understand the balance of fruit, acidity, and spice that makes these wines so distinctive.
Your guide and hosts explain local appellations, labelling, and how to read an Alsace bottle, helping you feel more confident when choosing wines in shops or on restaurant lists.
Lunch Break: Alsatian Cuisine
A midday break allows you to enjoy lunch at a local restaurant (meal not included). Choose from regional specialties such as tarte flambée, choucroute garnie, or baeckeoffe, often paired with a glass of local wine. Your guide will be happy to recommend options based on your tastes and dietary preferences.
Ribeauvillé & Riquewihr: Heart of Family-Led Wineries
In the afternoon, the tour focuses on the Ribeauvillé/Riquewihr area, a sector surrounded by Grand Cru vineyards such as Kirchberg, Osterberg, Schoenenbourg, and others. This is truly the heartland of family-led wineries where centuries of winemaking tradition meet modern craftsmanship.
At another carefully selected estate, enjoy a final tasting that may include Grand Cru or late-harvest wines, exploring how sweetness, concentration, and age affect the profile of Alsace whites. Learn more about wine and food pairings, cellaring potential, and how these wines complement both local and international cuisines.
Concluding Your Wine-Filled Journey
As you return to Strasbourg, you’ll bring back not only memories of stunning landscapes and historic villages, but also a deeper understanding of Alsace’s world-class wines. This exclusive full-day experience is ideal for wine lovers seeking a comprehensive introduction to the region’s terroirs and traditions, guided by an experienced local expert.
Book your spot on this Alsace Wine Tour from Strasbourg and raise a glass to the rich heritage and enduring charm of this enchanting wine region.

What to know before your tour?
Enjoying wine is a wonderful part of discovering France’s culture and heritage. We encourage guests to savor each tasting responsibly and at their own pace. Please remember that wine contains alcohol, and moderation helps you fully appreciate the flavors, keep a clear head throughout the tour, and make the most of your experience.
In France, snacks are usually not provided during wine tastings to preserve the purity of the wine's flavor. We recommend having a good breakfast or lunch beforehand.

Maria P29, Dec 2025We had an interesting wine experience yesterday in the villages on the Vosges mountain overlooking Strasbourg. Maybe we didn't visit the most fancy villages or the well known wineries but the professionalism, the perfect English and warm welcome of our guide Camille made this visit a beautiful day. In total we visited 3 wineries and tasted some fine wines. Thank you very much Camille for keeping us warm in this freezing day! Maybe we'll meet again in another tour! Happy new year!
5
Alex24, Sep 2025We had a wonderful wine tasting tour with Alain.
He took care selecting three lovely, varied experiences in different settings.
He also selected a great restaurant for lunch.
He was both personable and professional.
It was a truly exceptional experience!
5
Marco27, Jun 2025It was a fantastic tour along the Alsace wine route. In addition to visiting three excellent wineries, we drove through several villages and scenic backroads, and had lunch in a wonderful spot in one of them. All of this was thanks to Thierry, an outstanding guide who is truly passionate about Alsace and its wines!

about Alsace, about the history of the area and he not only answered the questions but
expanded our understanding of the area and the culture.
5
Elizabeth W15, Sep 2024The tour was Amazing. Pauline our tour guide Fantastic. We went to 3 vineyards who were in the middle of harvest. They all took their time to explain the process and one provided hands on experience. Can’t say enough positive things about this tour.

5
GYG32M57G52802, Sep 2024The wine tour was really great. The guide was friendly, knowledgeable, an excellent driver and overall excellent. We loved the small group (just another couple and the 2 of us). All the wineries we visited had a nice variety of wines. After living in Northern California and frequenting Napa and Sonoma, we are fairly knowledgeable about wine and found this trip opened our eyes to new varieties. Overall a wonderful outing.

GYG32M6GB27N01, Sep 2024Recomendado! Thierry from Ophorus was a wonderful guide during our tour of Alsace. We visited enchanting places like the majestic Haut-Kœnigsbourg Castle, the picturesque villages of Riquewihr and Eguisheim, and the charming town of Colmar. Thierry showcased an in-depth knowledge of the region, its culture, and history, sharing rich insights with a great sense of humor and a calm demeanor. The 9-hour tour was exceptionally well-organized, with details and stories that only a local who has studied and has a deep connection with the region would know.
5
Joan29, Aug 2024Thierry was an excellent guide! He was knowledgeable, accommodating, flexible, and friendly. We had very memorable visits at the wineries, especially the first, where we got a lot of attention and special behind the scenes info. We highly recommend the tour!
5
Clare K16, Jul 2024We had an incredible time on the all day wine tasting tour with Jerome! He was an incredible guide - super knowledge about the area and its history and of course about the wine itself. The transportation was seamless and everything was organized and clean! Thank you for taking us on the highlight of our vacation!
5
EG09, Jun 2024Informative tour. Not rushed, with sufficient time for a good lunch and walk about in township. Guide Pauline was excellent with explanation, friendly and attentive to needs. Thank you Pauline! Driver Sabrina was poloute, patient. Bus was absolute luxury! Visit to Domaine Noelle Bachert was the highlight, with warm hospitality and superb wines. Family owned compound was lovely to visit.

Luke26, May 2024Pauline was simply the best!! Great guide
5
Tracy C26, May 2024What a great experience to visit wineries with Grand Cru Alsatian wines. Our guide, Maxim, was very knowledgeable, especially about the tourism business, and he was quite patient with us. He was also smart to make lunch reservations because we ended up running late when it took longer than expected to purchase wine at one vineyard. Lunch was exceptional in Riquewihr (Restaurant: Jean Luc Brendel). Max also negotiated with the person presenting the wines to make sure we got great tastings, including a 97-point Gewurztraminer. He took us to see two sweeping views of the Alsatian valley and the lovely Alsatian wine road.
5
Steve H26, May 2024Took this tour in May 2024. Our guide, Maxim, was great. He was very knowledgeable and had a very comfortable personality. Each of the three wineries were very pleasant. Number of samples varied from 4 - 8 depending on the specific winery. All of the wines were very approachable with the host giving a nice description of each. Given that this tour is limited to 8 guests, one has the opportunity to become familiar with their fellow travelers.
5
Sophie17, May 2024Great day trip with Laurent, our guide, to the 3 wineries. Stopping at Ribeauville for lunch, the
village which inspired Disney for Beauty and the Beast, was also a treat. Laurent was very
informative about the wines and the history of the region.
4
Liz Whitehead16, May 2024Robin was a great cheery guide with great english.
We experienced two wineries and two villages. Everyone has different tastes so I think people should enjoy what they like.
The group was small and we were spoilt with the attention given.
Wonderful experience, thank you
5
F622314, May 2024The tour was on Saturday, April 27th, and our Tour Guide was Maxim. He was excellent, with a fantastic knowledge of wines and particularly of the wines of the Alsace Region. Even more impressive was his obvious knowledge of he culture and history of the region, and positive relationship with the staff at the various Wineries we visited. Wear comfortable shoes and be prepared to sample a lot of wines.
5
Wing10, May 2024Great day trip along the Alsatian wine route! Laurent brought us to 3 tastings and we left
with a wealth of knowledge!
5
Suzanne Mealing23, Apr 2024We had an amazing tour through the Alsace Wine Route, with knowledgeable and friendly guide Maksym. The wineries we visited were varied and we were introduced to a wide range of wines from the region, in hospitable venues in lovely towns. Maksym's recommendation of a restaurant for lunch was perfect, and his tour through the historical village was informative and interesting. He went out of his way to show us the best views in the area, and kept us warm in the unseasonal wet weather. It was a wonderful day out - a highlight of our trip! Thank you!!!
5
5
Alexander16, Apr 2024This was an excellent tour — Maks was super knowledgeable and friendly. Our tour was an unexpectedly private tour so we really got to go at our own pace and we probably tried 25 different wines. The 3 wineries were lovely, very welcoming and generous. We loved the little lunch stop and overall highly recommend this tour!
5
N/A09, Dec 2023We went on a wine tour on the 4th of December, I wish I could remember our tour guides name, he has long hair and called himself a viking. He was amazing, by the way. Excellent job, made us feel welcomed, knew a lot about wine. We honestly could not of asked for a better person to show is around.
5
World Traveler07, Nov 2023Awesome wine and amazing wine makers! the tour guide was fantastic, we'll be back for
sure! thank you!
5
AJ01, Nov 2023We had the most amazing time. We booked this tour for a bachelorette activity whilst visiting colmar. Thierry our tour guide, was very knowledgeable, very friendly, helpful, loads of fun and simply a great tour guide. From the meeting point where he was waiting for us and was easy to find, everythign went very smooth. We loved that we toured the vineyards in a tour bus, which was absolutely clean and looked new. It was all very pleasant, the vineyards we went to were really great too, and gave us many wines to try. We bought a couple too because they were very good. Overall a beautiful experience, Thierry adapted to our needs as we for example asked him to show us a good spot for fotos in the vineyards. Further on, the ophorus team was very supportive as one of our members had cancelled within the time period of free cancellation, and communicating this as well as receiving the refund was very easy and done as communicated.
10/10 points !
5
Eileen Randman01, Nov 2023Robin was our amazing tour guide! I am so happy that I found Ophorus and this tour. I took a a friend from Strasbourg and she thoroughly loved the tour also. We stopped along the way and saw a quaint village and took photos of the Vosges Mountains. We visited Noelle Bachert a 7th generation winemaker, which was absolutely amazing and so quaint (we bought so much wine:) and then as the sun was setting we visited Domaine GILG 14th generation winemakers and tasted their award winning wines in a tasting room set amidst the buildings of their beautiful winery. I will look forward to another tour with this company in the future.
5
Janet Winget 14, Sep 2023We really enjoyed our Alsace wine tour today with our guide Amelie. Not only were the wines delicious and the scenery beautiful but Amelie added so much to it with all her knowledge of the history of the region. I would definitely recommend this trip.
5
Sarah Vigneron12, Sep 2023We had a great time with Damien for the “wine route” activity.
We learned a lot of things and especially discovered Alsatian wines.
I highly recommend
conviviality and discovery guaranteed!
5
Viola and Michael 02, Sep 2023Dear Ophorus Team,
We very much enjoyed our tour and Damien was great and a perfect guide. We were being entertained and also learned a lot about wine making.
Just one thing, a bit of bread and cheese with the tasting would have been nice, which the other guests pointed out as well, as it is normal with wine tastings and we have never seen otherwise.
Apart from that, keep on!
Kind regards,
Viola and Michael
5
Gemma Hancock22, Jul 2023Great tour, Damien (aka Uhtred of Alsace) was a really knowledgeable but a very approachable and endearing guide. It was a perfect sized group and we visited wineries that were unique, organic and locally owned.
Awesome afternoon. Thanks. X x
5
Longshott4521, Jul 20233 of us went on the half day wine tour. Our driver/Sommelier, Jerome was very pleasant and quite knowledgeable. Both wineries were a different and enjoyable experience. The wines we were able to sample were very good. Highly recommended.
4
Nicki Chang17, Jul 2023Overal very good and comfortable. Our guid Pauline she is wonderful ! The first winery is just what I wish to visit. Only a small suggestion, the third winery we went may not be ideal. The environment and the quality of the wine are not in my expectations.
Finally, in my opinion, I may wish to walk a little bit in the vine yard and learn something more about the vine. Thank you.
5
Lee Wahl17, Jul 2023Our guide Myriam was extraordinarily knowledgeable and made our day-long tour a highlight of our trip to France. She took us to several ancient towns in Alsace, including some off the beaten path, pointed out key sites and features, and regaled us with interesting details about the history of the region. Myriam is intimately familiar with Alsatian wines, which added a depth and complexity to the winery visits and tasting experiences she curated and shared with us. Her English is perfect, and, to top it off, she has a great sense of humor. A memorable, once-in-lifetime experience.
5
Jennifer16, Jul 2023Pauline had a bright and cheerful personality and great knowledge of wine in the region.
Brilliant time. Loved the country side. Loved the wine.
5
Jennifer14, Jul 2023We had a wonderful day with Damian as our guide. Excellent wines and interesting narratives. Each tasting was a unique experience that gave us a better understanding of the wines and the region and the people who make them. It turned out to be even more fun when the other guest on the tour, a solo Japanese man, was interested in practicing his French, so it ended up being a bit of French practice for us all as well. It was a gorgeous day and we were thrilled with our experience. Thanks again!
5
Emma11, Jul 2023What a fantastic day! Our tour guide was absolutely fantastic and the 3 wi erys we visited

Off The28, Jun 2023Very pleasant day touring Alsace wine region. Our guide, Pauline, was very pleasant and enthusiastic. Our stop at Andre Durrmann’s (a wine guru) winery was particularly interesting as we learned a lot about local organic practices. All the wines we tasted were excellent and it was nice to visit small independent wineries which gave us a feel for the winemaker’s lifestyle that you don’t get at the larger producers.

Kconti41815, Sep 2022Thank you for an amazing wine tour yesterday. I will absolutely be sure to write a full review in the next few days but wanted to express my gratitude for a wonderful experience. I have always wanted to go to Alsace and see the wine route, and I am just thrilled I had the chance to do so with an amazing guide (Myriam) and great group of new friends.
5
N/A22, Aug 2022The tour was very well organized and took us to three wineries showcasing the Alsatian wines. Robin was very knowledgable and also flexible with giving us enough time to enjoy the tastings but also sticking to the schedule. Very enjoyable tour.
5
Alex_G25, Oct 2021Florence led a fun and informative tour about the Alsatian Wine Route that took me from zero to hero when it comes to Alsatian wine. Her knowledge of wine and the region was unmatched. The wine tastings we attended were all uniquely different and helped me understand the nuanced differences between wines in this region. Highly recommended f0r wine-lovers of all levels!
5
julia_t16, Oct 2021Florence our guide was wonderful, informative and made the tour so much fun. 3 total different wineries with about 18 tastes total so you got to sample a lot of really great Alsace Wine. Lunch in a little village with plenty of time to wander the streets. She took us up into the vineyards where we got to see the grapes-the vines up close. she drove us through the small villages of Alsace and gave us great history information about the towns as well as the The Alsace history with the German/French influences. She was an amazing guide as well as a trained Sommelier.
4
Kristina_H15, Sep 2021This tour was lovely. We got to see some of the smaller wineries and vineyards in Alsace. She took our wine preferences into account before we went to the wineries and helped with the translation when the language barrier got a little difficult. She also had recommendations for other wineries and locations the next time we came to the region. We had gone on a tour with this company the day before for another reason and Pauline was careful to show us new places we hadn't seen.
5
Ryon27, Jun 2021The trip was absolutely fantastic! Will be highly recommending to any friends visiting France.
Guide was super knowledgeable and lovely; wine was delicious; countryside and villages were breathtaking. This is hands down one of the best day tours that I’ve ever been on.
I can confidently say that I wouldn’t have appreciated Alsace as much as I do now if I was left to discover places on my own, limited to public transport.

Tiphaine 12, Sep 2020It was a great tour! The wineries were well chosen and the people there were also great and could speak several languages (english, german and french). We had the chance to try various kind of really good wines in each wineries, each time with explanation on the winery itself and the way the wine is produced. We could enjoy a lunch break in a typical village. The mini bus was also really comfortable and we were offered water bottles. Special mention for our guide, who was really nice and gave us a lot of interesting information about the region, the local culture and wines. We highly recommend the tour!
What did you enjoy the most? The winery Zeyssolff in Gertwiller was our favorite! Great hosts with great wine!

97suruchis20, Aug 2020Wonderful wine tasting experience in Alsace
My husband and I took a full day tour through Alsace from Strasbourg with Laurent. We had such a wonderful experience. Christophe helped to customize our trip in advance- making a restaurant reservation for us for lunch at a place we were excited to try, and selecting wineries for us based on our preferences. We loved all the wineries and had a wonderful day. We learned so much from Laurent and were very impressed by the careful precautions taken by everyone to wear masks and make sure we were all being clean, safe and healthy. Highly recommend!

What did you enjoy the most? Der Besuch der einzelnen Weingüter mit Verkostung und guter Information. Wunderschöne, kleine Ortschaften entlang der Weinstraße

Francisco Javie... R03, Oct 2019Fantastic introduction to Alsatian wine
Overall, this tour is a fantastic introduction to Alsatian viticulture.
It consists of three tastings which combined offer good insight into the myriad wines that the region can produce from its seven approved varietals.
Our tour began with brief stop on a hilltop vineyard from where our guide used the landscape to explain a bit of the geographical and historical conditions that make wine from the region so unique. This was both informative and a good photo op.
All three tastings where pretty good with five to six generous pous, enthusiastic vignerons and affordable prices. We came back with five bottles for which we spent less than 100 euros.
The second tasting at Domaine Hubert Metz was by far the best. The domaine hosts their tastings in a cellar where they also keep their foudres, which date from 1728 and have the most beautiful carvings and bronze-works imaginable. Seeing this cellar is worth the tour alone.
Another plus is the two vineyard stops. Although these are brief they are enough to see the different vines and get a couple of pictures.
The one part that is not altogether satisfying is the lunch stop at Riquewihr. The town is undeniably picturesque but also quite touristic. Trying to find a good restaurant to have lunch in an hour and a half without any suggestions is a crapshoot.

Our company uses only Mercedes Vito Tourer 8 seater minivans that are recent, comfortable and fully equipped including individual A/C, shaded windows, large leg space and on board P/A system for commentaries by the guide.
Who conducts these Alsace shared wine tours from Strasbourg?
We only employ accredited and licensed tour guides that are also the drivers for all tours that need visits to be conducted by certified guides. Good examples are: the visit of museums, guided walking tours in cities, visit of historical monuments and so on.

During our scheduled/shared tours the visits at the wineries are not private and you may find yourself being grouped with others. Groups usually always remain in low numbers.
